The AGW will host a panel discussion with IAIN BAXTER& and York University Research Chair Adam Lauder. The discussion also features selections from BAXTER&'s early video artworks, two new video projects commissioned by Media City, and a book signing of the new publication IAIN BAXTER&: Super 8 INFORMATION. Also available will be the 224-page exhibition catalogue IAIN BAXTER&: Works 1958-2011, produced by the Art Gallery of Ontario, which includes essays by David Moos, Lucy R. Lippard and others, as well as original interviews with the artist and more than 200 reproductions.
BAXTER& is recognized internationally as an early and important practitioner of conceptual art. He is Professor Emeritus at the School of Visual Arts University of Windsor, a recipient of a Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts and an Officer of the Order of Canada. Until August 12 the Art Gallery of Ontario will present IAIN BAXTER&: Works 1958-2011, a major career retrospective that was recently exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
