SESSION 18: Discover the Health Connection of Laughter

Special Guest: Janice Smith, Professional Development and Relationship Coach, Owner of Health Connection Laughter

Join us for a playful session that explores laughter! Janice Smith of Health Connection Laughter will share the science and benefits involved in laughter. Learn how to incorporate it in your daily life and why it is so important for our health and wellbeing. It is easy to laugh when things are going great, but how can we learn to laugh in the midst of a great challenge? Together we will learn to laugh… for no reason at all. We can boost our mood and our immune system all at  the same time.

Throughout this session, Ainslee will encourage us to deepen into this practice through the art making process. Transforming the mundane into an opportunity to re-energize and let go! We can’t wait to see you there!

Suggested Materials:

  • Paper (2 sheets or sketchbook)
  • Colouring Materials (pencils, markers, crayons, pastels, etc.)
  • Magazine clippings/collage materials
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Art Activity: Pt 1

  1. It’s time to laugh on demand! Let’s see how you draw your breath.
  2. What colour did you use? What did the lines look like? Did they differ from your initial check-in?
  3. Use these lines as a foundation and begin to transform the art into imagery, symbols, or continued designs.

Art Activity: Pt 2

  1. Visualize a current stressor in your life right now. Draw your breath while participating in 3 laughter breaths.
  2. What colour did you use? What did the lines look like? Did they differ from your initial check-in?
  3. Use these lines as a foundation and begin to transform the art into imagery, symbols, or continued designs.
